At Moka Origins, we're working to make cacao and coffee a sustainable source of income for farmers around the world. 165 million people depend on cacao or coffee for their livelihood. Many aren’t paid a living wage and are stuck in poverty. We’re out to change that. Cameroon is the 4th largest producer of cacao in the world. Our farm in Cameroon serves as a resource and training center, helping new farmers start farms and grow better quality cacao. As a result, you help farmers earn a livelihood and you get better tasting, ethically made chocolate and coffee. As cacao and coffee are grown on our farm in Cameroon, saplings are brought to neighboring villages free of charge. This allows those villages to start their own farms, creating a source of reliable income for farmers. As these new farmers plant and produce cacao and coffee beans, we’ll buy them at premium prices, ensuring they are paid more than a living wage. This locally-led business model extends beyond what is possible with charity, ensuring local communities can generate their own income.
